For Professionals
Professional Referrals
Refer a patient with confidence. Every UKAT clinic is CQC regulated, offers medically managed detox, and keeps you informed from admission through to discharge. Find the right setting for your patient below, then refer in the way that suits you.

Clinical governance
Everything a referring clinician needs to be confident in the handover, in plain terms.
Every clinic is registered with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission against its five standards of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. We publish each clinic's CQC report, so you can read the live rating for any clinic before you refer.
Care is overseen by our Group Medical Advisor and Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Mateen Durrani, on the GMC specialist register and RCPsych accredited, supported by Dr Sharad Haridas and a dedicated Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance. Detox is medically supported at every clinic, with a dedicated 24 hour nursing unit for complex, higher risk withdrawals.
We are built to support your GMC and NICE obligations. A named responsible clinician, consent led information sharing both ways, a discharge letter to you within 24 hours, and medicines reconciled on admission and discharge. The transfer of care is safe in both directions.
Safeguarding of adults and young people, DBS checked staff, medicines management, and data handled under UK GDPR and the Caldicott principles. UKAT is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
Stages of care
Every stage of residential care is available within the group, so you can refer straight into the level your patient needs.
Medically managed detox and intensive residential therapy. Stabilisation, structure and the clinical foundations of recovery.
The step down. Daily therapy and peer support continue while your patient rebuilds routine, life skills and independence, in accommodation separate from the therapy setting.
Safe, substance free accommodation with support nearby. Your patient practises independent living, working and budgeting, before returning fully to everyday life.
The Providence Projects has run all three stages under one provider since 1996. The team and the programme predate its joining UKAT and have been kept, not replaced. Now marking 30 years, with more than 10,000 people treated, it is the clinic for the patient who needs a long runway, including those who have relapsed after shorter programmes elsewhere.
Bayberry is UKAT's bespoke clinic, and it kept its own founding clinical team and approach when it joined the group. Its practice is genuinely innovative, from neuroscience informed treatment shaped by a published neuroscience researcher to specialist trauma work including Rewind therapy. Every therapist holds a minimum of a Masters level qualification, care is overseen by consulting psychiatrist Dr Jas Grewal, MRCPsych, and each programme is designed around the individual rather than following a standard pathway. It treats standalone mental health as well as addiction.
A maximum of four clients at any time, with around three hours of individual therapy every weekday. Complete privacy, no group work.
Cottages of no more than two clients around a private courtyard, combining daily small group work with individual sessions.
Standalone mental health is treated with or without addiction, including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, personality disorders at the more complex end such as EUPD, and support for clients with brain injuries. All of it in a Grade II listed manor setting that feels nothing like a clinical environment.

What happens afterwards is the part patients, and the professionals who sent them, remember.
More than 8,000 people stay connected to UKAT after treatment, free, for life, through regular groups and events. People who stay are the clearest testament to outcomes there is.
Every clinic includes twelve months of free weekly group therapy after discharge, whatever the length of stay. At Bayberry, aftercare support runs for five years.
If a patient completes a 90 day programme and relapses within 30 days of discharge, they return for a complimentary 28 days of treatment. Offered at Sanctuary Lodge, Primrose Lodge, Banbury Lodge, Linwood House and Recovery Lighthouse.
Insurance
UKAT works with the UK's leading private medical insurers. If your patient is covered, we can handle the authorisation with their provider.
Working in partnership
We work as an extension of your care team, not around you. From the referral through to discharge and beyond, and with your patient's consent, you stay informed and involved in their ongoing care.
From first contact
Throughout the stay
Handover and beyond
Prefer a single point of coordination? We can assign a dedicated case manager to handle everything between you, your patient and the clinic, so nothing falls between the gaps and you have one named person to call from referral through to discharge.
Our handover process is designed to meet the GMC duty on continuity and safe transfer of care.

Private clients and family offices
For family offices, private client advisers and personal offices arranging care for a principal or a family member. We work the way you do, with one senior contact, complete discretion, and arrangements built around the person rather than a programme.
Senior admissions staff own everything from the first call through to discharge and beyond. You are never passed around, and you never have to explain twice.
Private admission arrangements, staff bound by confidentiality, consent led information sharing, and one simple rule. We never discuss who is in our care.
At Bayberry, a cottage can be taken over entirely. We can work alongside your client's existing clinicians and household staff, welcome a personal team where it helps, and cater for genuinely complex needs. Chefs and a personal trainer are on site.
Updates to the family or adviser exactly as agreed, careful transition planning, and a door that stays open after discharge.
How to refer
One conversation with our admissions team is enough to begin. Choose a route, and a specialist takes it from there.
Everything in one document. A one page overview of all ten clinics and what each treats, the referral form, what happens after you refer step by step, the insurance and funding guide, and a sample discharge letter so you know exactly what you will receive back.
